A unique 3.1/4"super Silex multiplier, this reel was made in two periods, the Silex was 1928-35 and then the multiplier aspect was added during the war years hence war time paint finish on extra gear housing.
The reel functions perfectly, and has no cracks or line burns to the frame, the ribbed foot is full length.
I have another reel which has the same principle, a super Silex with multiplier interior, but no extra gear housing.
I suggest the main body of the reel was made pre war, with multiplier internal fittings and gearing and and then adapted into a full multiplier later.
This reel is for a Hardy enthusiast.
The spool is non-ventilated in the core.
