Hardy St George rare Mark I 1912 check- At George 3.3/4" trout fly reel by Hardy.
Inscribed -The "St George" Reel, Pat No24245, Hardy Bros Ltd, Alnwick.England. With leather case.
It has the very rare white handle and has the ever rarer red agate line guide. The line guide has two cracks in the agate, one at 2 O'clock and one at 7 O'clock.
This reel also has the rare shallow spool core
Someone has used very light wire wool on the rear of the reel but this does not detract from the charm and quality of this very rare reel. Good condition, full length foot, no cracks or line burns, no wear to spindle and free from wobbles.
This reel comes with its original block Hardy leather case from the period. Unusually some light line marks to the outside of the rear top pillar.
This early st George has the rare shallow drum core for fast retrieve dry fly fishing option.
